Who should consider undergoing the operation?
For those whose BMI is more than 35 and suffer from serious medical complications related to obesity. This surgery is performed as a last solution as it is irreversible.

What is the length of hospital stay?
If you undergo Gastric Bypass Surgery, you will be hospitalized for approximately 3-6 nights. Post operative check up will be done a week after the surgery. Another 2 weeks are needed as the observation period.

How is surgery performed?
It is Performed under general anesthesias.It can be done as an open surgery or laparoscopically. Special staples to section off a part of the stomach,thus form a small pouch. Then the small intestine is bisected and the lower section of the small intestine is attached to the new stomach pouch. Eventually, food will bypass the lower stomach , the proximal part of the small intestine and the duodenum, where the majority of calories are absorbed. It takes approximately 30 minutes to be performed.
