How long is the length of stay for Kidney Stone Surgery?
Normally, Kidney Stone surgery will require 2-3 nights stay in the hospital. Post operative check up will be done 1 week following the surgical procedure.

How is the kidney stone resection surgery performed?
Extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL) is the most frequently used. In ESWL, shock waves are transmitted to the kidney , fragment the stones and break them down to tiny particles that pass through the urinary tract after irrigation with saline.

Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy also known as tunnel surgery, used for huge renal stones or for renal stones that are in a location that does not allow ESWL. Surgeon makes a tiny incision in the back that creates a tunnel directly into the kidney, then using an instrument called a nephroscope to remove the stone.

What is the post-surgical care?
For ESWL, recovery time is precise, and usually the majority of patients can resume normal activities in a few days.

For Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy, normally most patients are able to return to work within 1-2 weeks.
