Athens, a contemporary classic, an entrancing and evocative city which, day or night, will enthrall you with its atmosphere. This ancient city has a touch of the classic from Acropolis to metropolis and many buildings and artifacts still survive from the golden age of ancient Greece.

The chic, residential area of Kolonaki is located in the north of the city centre, as is the cosmopolitan area around Patriarchou, Ioakeim and Irodotou. These streets have excellent shopping and entertainment venues. Most of Athens’ best museums are also located here.

An older part of the city, southern Athens, is dominated by the Acropolis and is home to the buildings that were the heart of ancient Athens. Nestling among the restored neo-classical houses are grocery shops, icon painters and open-air tavernas. The flea market, food vendors and gypsy musicians provide the atmosphere of a Middle Eastern bazaar.
