Cosmopolitan Beirut, with its lively atmosphere and friendly people, conveys a sense of life and energy which is immediately apparent. Jutting out into the sea with the dramatic Lebanese Mountains rising behind, the city has a venerable past, with favourable weather and a seductive lifestyle which has always attracted visitors.

As well as sparkling nightlife and friendly hospitality, shopping in Beirut is a main attraction. There is no major centre but rather several areas where you will have no difficulty in finding what you want. Beirut’s arcades and busy main streets are crammed with shops selling every necessity and luxury, both local and imported.

Beirut has its fair share of churches, monuments, museums and the like. The surrounding countryside is also well worth visiting, including such archeological sites as Byblos and Baalbeck. And why not spend an evening at the Casino du Liban, overlooking the beautiful Bay of Jounieh.
