Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, only just over 300 kms off the coast of northwest Africa. Its name means “Snowy Mountain” in tribute to the dormant volcano, Mount Teide, Spain’s highest peak.
The Island has two distinct climate zones, lush, fertile and green
vegetation in the north and arid, hot, dry and sunny in the south.
Here, the stark, volcanic landscape slopes down to glorious, hot,
sandy beaches and the lively resorts for which Tenerife is famous.
It’s the sunbathing and nightlife which attract visitors to
Tenerife. With its spectacular volcanic scenery, water sports and
a vibrant atmosphere after dark, the Island pulsates with life day
and night.
