Las Vegas is the home of exciting entertainment, gambling and a playland getaway from the world. The city is famous for “the Strip”, the road where singers, comedians, strippers, instrumentalists, dancers and a wide variety of other performers were booked to entertain hotel guests in the resort, that is, while they were not busy winning and losing money in the casinos. Now the city has grown to successfully become an oasis of colour and excitement.
Amongst one of Las Vegas’s many attractions is “the Luxor”, a spectacular hotel and casino with a 30 storey bronze pyramid and a full-scale reproduction of King Tut’s tomb. The world’s most powerful beam of light shines from the top of the pyramid, visible to aircraft 250 miles away in Los Angeles.
But life is not all gambling and entertainment. There is much to see in the surrounding countryside including the Hoover Dam and the world famous Grand Canyon, a spectacular natural phenomenon set in its own national park. Or perhaps visit a ranch and see how the cowboys lived in the wild West.
